History Today: Vladimir Lenin Shot - 8/30/2016


After speaking at a factory in Moscow, the Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin was shot twice by Fanya Kaplan, a member of the Revolutionary Socialist Party. Lenin was seriously injured but survived the attack. Assassination attempt on August 30, 1918 according to History.com, triggering a wave of reprisals by the Bolshvik against the Revolutionary Socialists and other political opponents. Thousands of people were executed and Russia fell into civil war. Ulyanov Lenin was born in 1870. He is interested in revolutionary after his brother was executed in 1887. He studied law in Petrograd. There he associated with Marxist revolutionary circles.
